Mailyan 9 - Appliances for correction of mezial bite

Appliance with a mandibular alveolar plate.

The wireframe or arcwise palatal support of the appliance is connected to the support-retaining wireframes of lateral and frontal teeth through the springs. The vestibular arch with a  correction element and a mandibular alveolar plate is fixed on the anterior section of the palatal support, see FIG1 Mailyan 9-1. Activation of the correction element of the vestibular arch with alveolar plate contributes to the distal shift of the mandible and the inhibition of its growth as well as the application of counter forces to the upper dentition in the mesial direction. As modifications of the construction of the appliance can serve the variants of fixing the ends of vestibular arch with mandibular alveolar plate. According to the first variant both ends of the vestibular arch are fixed on the support-retaining wireframes of lateral teeth, seeFIG1 Mailyan 9-1 and according to the second variant - one end is fixed on the support-retaining wireframes, and the other- on the palatal support. It is advisable to apply the modifications of the appliance according to the first and second variants, respectively, for uniform and non-uniform expansion of the upper dentition. Appliances can be equipped with buccal  plates that are fixed on the support-retaining wireframes of lateral teeth, permanently - through springs or removably - through clips, see FIG2.

The constructions of appliances Mailyan 9-2 and 9-3 are realized on the base of modifications of the appliancesMailyan3-4 and 3-5 developed by Daniel and David Mailyans, see, FIG3 and FIG4.

Appliance with a sliding arch

The appliance comprises the maxillary basis connected via springs with support-retaining wireframes of lateral and frontal teeth. For installation of mandibular sliding arch the rings suspended on rods are fixed on the vestibular surface of   support-retaining wireframes of lateral teeth. The sliding arc his equipped with an  alveolar plate, a wireframe for correction of the axial position of the lower incisors and hooks for applying elastic traction, see FIG4 Mailyan 9 -4.  In this case, the elastic traction is mounted between the hook and the anterior bar. This ensures the influence of horizontally directed forces upon the upper and lower dentitions.
